Manager of Network Operations Job Summary

Network Operations takes a leadership role over a team responsible for the management and care of the entire organization's core IT platform, including an outsourced datacenter, LAN, WLAN, VOIP, network and data security. This position is expected to design and implement strategies, goals and initiatives that will enhance the performance of the IT team members and provide the company with a highly effective support team. This position is also expected to respond, troubleshoot and solve problem escalations on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis.

Manager of Network Operations Duties and Responsibilities 

• Manage a team of network administrators and technicians providing management oversight, guidance, coaching and leadership that results in a highly effective team
• Conduct strategic and tactical planning for the organizations data and voice network that align with the overall strategy and growth
• Manage the design, implementation, operation and support of the Company's network infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, Internet, Wireless, VOIP, Remote Access services and third party resources
• Create driver-active capacity management and performance management processes that meet requirements
• Manage local datacentre and switch rooms to ensure core IT services can be provided in accordance with requirements for reliability, availability, and scalability so that datacentre, network, voice and telecommunications services are uninterrupted
• Ensure that all projects, initiatives and support activities follow information security, business continuity and disaster recovery standards
• Define and develop key performance indicators and measurements such as availability to ensure that Service Level Agreements are met. Routinely gather and report on this information and develop procedures to improve quality of service as necessary
• Participate in the establishment of departmental goals and implement procedure and performance standards to achieve such goals
• Manage, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the activities of the Network Infrastructure team as necessary
• Ensure systems and processes meet state and federal standards, including, but not limited to, the J-SOX controls that ensure policy compliance
• Respond to problem escalations on a 24 hour, 7 days a week

Manager of Network Operations Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise level IT operations and support
• 3+ years of supervisory experience leading a team of technicians
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
• 2+ years of experience in technical training for LAN/WAN management preferred
• Familiarity with shop floor management, data collection systems and integration to ERP systems
• Understanding of integrated financial processes and data/process flows/interactions within ERP systems
• Experience with various reporting tools against Progress databases
• Project management skills with ERP systems and proven ability to execute and provide results
