Data Center Operations Specialist

Location: Kansas City, MO (On-site)

About the Role

We are seeking a Data Center Operations Specialist to join our team and help ensure the reliable and efficient functioning of our multi-site data center facilities. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in power distribution, environmental monitoring, and operational best practices, with a proven ability to adapt to evolving data center technologies. You will collaborate with engineering, facilities, and IT teams to support daily operations, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of data center facilities, including monitoring of environmental conditions, power systems, and critical alarms.

• Assist with planning and implementing equipment layouts, space management, and infrastructure changes across multiple data center sites.

• Support preventive and corrective maintenance programs for electrical and HVAC systems.

• Coordinate vendor activities and manage service contracts for data center infrastructure and related equipment.

• Utilize DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) and alarm monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance and uptime.

• Contribute to incident response processes, performing root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

• Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance energy efficiency, security, and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 3+ years of experience in a data center, facilities, or mission-critical environment.

• Familiarity with power distribution, cooling systems, and environmental controls.

• Experience using DCIM, BMS, or similar monitoring and management tools.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to operational issues.

• Good communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.

• Industry certifications (e.g., CDCP, DCEP, or similar) are a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting multi-site data center operations.

• Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and sustainable data center practices.

• Project management or vendor management experience.

• Ability to interpret technical documentation and system diagrams.
